UPH Family Day

UPH had held an event called Family Day on 12 August 2014. This is the first time UPH had planned this activities and were made to tighten and to pray for each other in the uph family. Just like a family, this event was proceed casually and friendly.

 

   

 Tuesday Chapel with Andrew Mitchell; Raymond Liu, President of UPH, invited the UPH family to come to the retreat which will be held together with ?The Mission Retreat? that will be deliver by Dr. Ravi Zacharias

UPH had held an event called Family Day on 12 August 2014. This is the first time UPH had planned this activities and were made to tighten and to pray for each other in the uph family. Just like a family, this event was proceed casually and friendly. Even the rector and vice rector also use casual attire like t-shirt with jeans. This event was casually done but, the moral message of this event lead all the participants to UPH vision.

 

On his speech, Raymond Liu, UPH President, explained that the Family Day, is one part of UPH Retreat that will happening on 29-31 August 2014. He invited the UPH family to come to the retreat which will be held together with ?The Mission Retreat? that will be deliver by Dr. Ravi Zacharias bringing a topic about ?Fighting The Anti Family Culture?. Through this retreat, the UPH family will be encourage to face challenges from the culture around their environment that are against the family moral values. Not only the staffs and the lecturers, their families itself are recommended to join the retreat.

 

This event was also held as a form of gratitude upon the end of 2013/2014 school year. Raymond Liu, UPH President conveyed three points that we should be grateful of. ?First, is about the application of acceleration program that had been successfully done. This program is the biggest innovation that is ever made because it needs a lot of effort, concentration, and energy. I am grateful that we can put our hearts together to process the new program. On behalf of UPH chairman, I thanked you all. Second, is about our new education programs such as joint degree RMIT, EMBA program, Master of Public Notary program, and the launching of UPH new campus in Medan. I encouraged you all to support our new campus so we are able to move forward and expanding. The last one is about our effort to stated the vision and mision of UPH, to be Christ centered university. We had finished the statement of faith that are clearer and had socialized this with the faculties and departements. Fortunately it occured well and had receive a good responses through the open dialogue,? explained Raymond.

 

Jonathan L. Parapak, UPH Rector also welcomed all the UPH family warmly. In the beginning he explained the meaning of family. ?There are three points that bring us all together as UPH family. First we are a family of Christ. Second, we are one family of UPH that had been called by God. Third, we are one family in the same institution which brought together by the UPH vision itself. We are called by God and had given the same vision from God,? explained Jonathan.

 

He was grateful to the founder of UPH which is Johannes Oentoro and Dr. Hon, James T. Riady which was touched by God twenty years ago. Through UPH James T. Riady had successfully convey Christian foundation ?Faith in God? that had been clarified into ?Faith in Christ?. This year, we are grateful to had successfully produce 20.000 alumni which also as ambassadors for Christ.

 

Related to all the best work that UPH had done, to remember UPH twentieth Diesnatalis, the committees are bringing a topic about ?Telling His Story? which is taken from Psalm 78:4. This topic is talking about how each member of UPH family to commit to tell God?s stories in every aspect of their lives, especially in UPH.

 

In this opportunity, UPH Rector also explained the statement of faith that has been stated in the vision and mision of UPH.

 

Vision:

To be a Christ-centered institution for excellent, holistic, transformational higher education that will develop competent leaders and professionals who are equipped with true knowledge, guided by faith in Christ, and exemplify godly character.

Mission:

To prepare and empower students to become holistic professionals and servant leaders who are ready to serve and to glorify God.

To contribute to the advancement of knowledge and technology based on Christ ? centered principles.

To participate in community development, nation building, and improvement of the quality of human life and the society for the glory of God.

 

In the vision and mission, it is clearly stated that UPH will be an university that based all the foundation toward Christ. He stated that the vision is not just a statement, but something that need to be lived in each individual. ?This included mind, heart, and our lives.?

 

   

 James Riady, Founder of UPH, conveyed the planning of expanding UPH in the future years ; Jonathan L Parapak, Rector of UPH, welcomed all the UPH family warmly

?We are grateful with our achievements during our 20 years at UPH. God has use UPH to give positive influence to alot of people. We expected in the future years, there are proof that the 2014 generations are the batch that had brought UPH as a institution that focuses on Christ. Put our hearts together so we are able to see that happening.? wishes Jonathan L. Parapak, UPH Rector.

 

?Let?s pray and contribute the best effort to make UPH as a Christ centered university. I?m not talking only about the institution but also towards each individual to be the Christ centered. Through Family Day, we can be grateful to God, and move forward together, making our dreams coming true so UPH is known as an education institution that have high quality that focused on God,? said Jonathan L. Parapak.

 

James Riady, Founder of UPH had also participate on the Family Day event to convey the planning of expanding UPH in the future years and also to have an open dialogue with the audiences. In the end of the event, each faculty and unit also represent their group performances together. (rh)
