UPH Festival 21: Open House for High School Students

As the excited faces of hundreds high school students filled the D 501 and D502 rooms, colorful lights begin to dance on the stage. The festive banner spread white on the back of the stage and music starts to play, lights were dimmed and the room went dark. Two hosts entered the room, running with spirits to greet their junior audience. The open house event on 21 August 2014 begun, this is the first activity for the high school students. The first part of the open house event is UPH introduction, where the students can learn and understand more about  UPH. They will continue later on for a tour of the campus with their respective liaison officer. The attending schools were, SMA Regina Pacis Bogor, SMA Tiara Kasih, SMA High Scope, SMA Permai and SMA Kanaan.

The series of events starts early on 7.30 in the morning, in this platform UPH explain in more detail about the systems and foundations that the campus was based on. UPH have three important principles, true knowledge, faith in Christ, and Godly character. Senior high school students mostly are still considering where they?ll go to college and weighing the pros and cons of every university. UPH offers them as choice on where they can build their future and moves forward in a holistic education. In order to attract the students, the presentations were shown in the form of videos and slides and they were encouraged to engage actively through questions and answers. To add even more fun, there was also a quiz on social media using Line and Twitter; prices were given to those who can answer correctly. The quiz was about the theme of UPH?s Festival which is ?Higher Calling?.

Testimonies of UPH?s athletes were shown in the beginning video to give a brief explanation of why they choose UPH and what their years in campus had been like. The students there have one common question to ask, why should they enter UPH? And that question is answered in this event. There are seven reasons why you should choose UPH as your campus, first is holistic education. UPH will not only build your intelligence and knowledge, but here we balance it with character building. Second reason is academic excellence, not only we have an international curriculum, UPH also balances both theoretical and practical studies for their students. As we are leaving in a modern and digital evolving era, the third reason for enrolling in UPH is for our technological innovations and we use e-learning and e-teaching with digital facilities.

Graduates doesn?t need to worry on being unemployed after finishing college, which comes to the fourth reason whichis individual career coaching. UPH offers assisting services for students in their transition from campus life to working environment. Networking is an important element in education and career wise, UPH is partner with many universities around the world providing dual and double degree from reputable universities in USA, Germany, Singapore, Netherlands, Japan and many more. The first part of the event was ended with musical performances from UPH?s own students that have tried to make their name in the music industry. One of them is Albert Fakdawer who had just released a single on iTunes entitled ?Aku Bosan?. Chika, a senior high school, student from SMA Regina Pacis was amazed by the m,usical performance by Albert. ?I think UPH is a very beautiful, spacious and amazing place to learn. The environment is so clean and very cohesive for studying?. Chika has not made up her mind yet, but she already knows that she wants to major in accounting.
