At September 15, 2014 UPH Career Center and Entrepreneurship Community together with BII Maybank held a ?Career Workshop? with the topic ?Everything You Need to Know to Start a Business and Financing for Young Entrepreneur?. This theme was chosen since the students, even the young people, started to create a business. UPH invites the industry partners, BII Maybank, to share some tips and motivations to all the young entrepreneurs at UPH.
Around 150 students came to the workshop that was held from 4pm until 6pm at the Multipurpose Room, MYC, UPH. At the beginning of the session, head of UPH Career Center, Dharmanita Kusumaningrum said, ?From this session, I hope that you can learn and understand how to start a business from the concept and the financial aspect. When you are graduated as UPH?s alumni, you can be successful young entrepreneurs.?
Head of Micro Business Portfolio BII Maybank, Antonius Herdadu was presenting as a speaker. He explained, ?What is so important to start a business is to have a motivation to give people benefits. If that is what you are doing and you achieve it, all the profit will come by itself. Entrepreneurs can start as simple and as young as you can.?
Antonius also gave some tips to start a business. He said that we can start from something that we love, do market research, set a goal and a business plan, introduce the product, get feedback from customers, develop the product and strategies, and spread the marketing.
After the presentation was finished, Antonius opened the Q&A session for the students and discussed about this topic. At this session, students were able to ask some questions and one of them asked how to motivate ourselves in the business world as a young entrepreneur. This question is interesting since today young people want to have everything so simple and do not want to think about starting a business. To answer that question, Antonius affirmed that motivation has to be build in us by finding our talents and potential as best as we can, so we can give a big contribution for people who need it. This is not only make us and other people happy, but the important thing is to glorify God.At the end of the session, students who answer the questions about the Career Workshop program got a souvenir from BII Maybank.
