UPH Conservatory of Music held the Handle Messiah concert that took place on November 5, 2014, in Building D UPH. This concert was created as an encouragement to continue developing the talents that have been given by God, especially in the field of music. “Handle Messiah is the perfect theme to continuously spread the messages that God?s love to the world is so great and that through the sacrifice of His Son, every believer may gain an eternal life”, said Michael Erick Kurniawan, Performing Arts Productions and Management?s lecturer at the Conservatory of Music UPH . Handle Messiah is one of the great works of classical music with beautiful woven melodies, enabling this music to survive from year to year.

In this event, UPH Faculty of Music has prepared 23 songs out of the total 56 works of Handle Messiah. The songs that were performed have been arranged properly. This is the fourth year of UPH Conservatory of Music musical performance. But instead of stopping here “we will continue to consistently deliver messages in line with the vision and mission of the university, especially in the part of Faith in Christ,” said Michael.

The event was attended by various parties, both from internal and external. Here are some of the testimonials:

“I think the Handle Messiah?s concert was very good especially with the fact that we are approaching Christmas Day. In addition, this event involves a lot of students and professors which will ultimately train their cooperation skills. I started to enjoy this music since I was a student. The first time I attended a Messiah concert was in Australia and ever since then, I always enjoy listening to it at home, let alone watching the live concert. Handle Messiah has been very famous since a long time ago so many people can feel the real message expressed by these songs. I also hope that many young people can enjoy this music. “

Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L.Parapak, M.Eng.Sc, Rector UPH

“This event has been prepared for a long time and I think the concept is very good for their performance tonight. I am hoping that this show will be more socialized among UPH Family, especially the Community.”

Rayomond Liu, Ph.D, President of UPH

“Handle Messiah Concert became a starting moment when great musics that bring glory of God’s name were echoed from UPH, reaching other places.”

Antonius Priyanto, S.Ag, B.CM, M..Mus, Dean of The Faculty of Arts

“I really like events like this which tells story about Christian religion. Basically, I am majoring in classical music so I become really interested to attend this concert. In my opinion, the Handle Messiah theme is very impressive especially because I saw that the preparations were pretty good. The concert is also very good because it can promote the future of classical music so that it would be better known by the society, especially by the Indonesian citizens.”
