In order to welcome Business Week 2015, UPH Business School held a Business Race on February 4, 2015. This competition is part of the Pre-Event Business Week 2015 which has just been established for the very first time. A total of 99 participants attended this competition, which consists of 10 internal teams 10 external teams. For external teams, there were universities from Greater Jakarta, including UMN, Universitas Tarumanegara, Prasetiya Mulya, Universitas Pancasila, and many more.
The event was started with an opening ceremony held in MYC Multi Purpose Room at 8.00 a.m. Patricia, as a Business School lecturer, expressed her hope that through this Business Race, whatever students learn in the classroom can be applied in real life through fun games.
Budi Hartono Kusuma, Head of Management Department, was also present in this event. He expressed a similar hope for this event, “We are certainly hoping that Business Race, which is part of Business Week 2015, could be an event full of creativity, unity and sportsmanship. Hopefully, this can be a platform for them to compete in a positive way “.
Business Race with the theme ‘Forwarding Innovation’ invites the participants to learn to apply the theories they have learned in class through fun games and learn to make new breakthroughs which will exceed the innovations already existing today. “Creating a ‘breakthrough’ becomes our expectation of the very first Business Race in Indonesia, where the spirit of ‘Forwarding Innovation’ could re-smolder in each of us,” said Felicia, Chairman of the Business Race event.
In contrast with other business competition, Business Race will take place at several locations and participants must find clues through games that are given in each location. “To make the game interesting, we cooperate with renowned corporations that will provide a place, a game and also assess the participants. The companies include Lotte Shopping Avenue, PT. Pan Brothers and Alam Sutera Mall”, explained Gana, Chairman of the Business Week 2015 Committee.
The next game will take place at Lotte Shopping Avenue, Kuningan. Participants will join an Adding Value game, where they have to sell unique items that have been provided by the venue. Without mentioning the price, they have to be able to make the Buyer guess the price of the goods offered. “The goods supplied are very unique, for example a pram. Later they have to offer this to visitors at Lotte Shopping Avenue. If the buyer managed to guess the price higher than the retail price, they will get a clue to the next location,”explained Gana. The last stage is at Alam Sutera Mall, which is the Grand Entreupreunership game, where participants will create a business with new and innovative products. Participants must create a Business Module which will be presented to four judges from Business Race sponsors including Samsung, Yopie Salon, Garudapreuner and UPH. The team that scored at least 80 will succeed to the final destination at UPH to celebrate the closing ceremony. In the closing ceremony, the winner of Business Race will be announced. In addition, participants will have dinner and watch the performance from UPH students. (ca)
