UPH Cooperating with CIMA to Promote Management Accounting Professional Education

On February 4, 2015, The UPH Business School signed a collaboration agreement with The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for a scholarship program.

On February 4, 2015, The UPH Business School signed a collaboration agreement with The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for a scholarship program. UPH is the first university in Indonesia to be trusted and chosen to be the partner of CIMA.

 
This cooperation was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at Pullman Thamrin, Jakarta. The signatories were represented by Mr. Andrew Harding, Managing Director of CIMA and Mr. John Riady, Executive Dean of UPH Business School. After signing, the delegations of CIMA made a visit to the main campus of UPH in Lippo Village for a campus tour and to formalize the cooperation plaque displayed in the Business School Building Lobby (Building F).

The CIMA delegations consisted of Mr. Andrew Harding, Managing Director of CIMA, Mr. Venkkat Ramanan – Head of South East Asia CIMA, Ms. Irene Teng – Regional Director, SE Asia & Australasian of CIMA and Mr. Michael Yii – Country Manager of Indonesia of CIMA. This arrival was greeted warmly by Jonathan L. Parapak, Rector of UPH, Raymond Liu, President of UPH, and David Widihandojo, Dean of Business School UPH and Business School lecturers.

 

Andrew Harding gave some speech

Mr. Andrew Harding described two significant things that will be done through this cooperation: UPH will be the first tuition provider in Indonesia, which up until thenwas just an online-based. Through this partnership, the lectures will be held face to face in UPH. In addition, through this cooperation, both the undergraduate and graduate students will be able to follow theChartered Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CA-CGMA) program. This program is a collaboration between CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs as a global quality standard program that raises the management accounting profession to a higher level. Mr. John Riady, Executive Dean of UPH Business School also emphasized that; ?the importance of an international partnership is not only for UPH but also for Indonesia?. 


 

 

 

“This is an exciting and tremendous opportunity, because through this program Indonesia’s young generation can gain the opportunity to get exposure and experience as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant in the first year of study. They will acquire the skills in accordance with the competency framework developed by CIMA and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). It is also an honor to CIMA to welcome UPH, especially UPH Business School, to join together into the CGMA family. I hope this cooperation will not stop here, but may continue for more collaboration in the future”, said Mr. Andrew Harding.
 

 

CIMA will provide scholarships for Department of Accounting lecturers to obtain certification from CIMA, as well as for students of the MBA program for the professional qualification as Chartered Management Accountants, and undergraduate students of UPH for professional qualifications. (ca/cha)
