Perhimpunan Ahli Teknologi Pangan Indonesia (PATPI) partnered with Himpunan Mahasiswa Peduli Pangan Indonesia (HMPPI) to hold the ?3rd Indonesian Food Bowl Quiz Competition?. This event consisted of a seminar and talk show centered on the topic of food technology in conjunction with the quiz bowl contest. The objective of this event was to foster solidarity among the students of food technology majors as well as increasing the food technology students? awareness of national food security.

The initial stage of the competition was the regional selection held on 13 December, 2014. UPH hosted the event and sent four teams from UPH Food Technology. The Food Bowl Quiz contestants were made up of 84 teams from universities all over Indonesia. One team from UPH qualified for the final stage along with 9 other teams. The UPH team consisted of Frisca Christabella (2012), Jimmy Jaya Nugraha (2012), Isabella Supardi (2011), and Sharon Angela (2011).

During the final stage, held on 13 March 2015, at Universitas Andalas Padang, there were three teams fighting for first place. Eventually, UPH won first place again after having won first and second prize at Food Bowl Quiz 1 and 2. Meanwhile, their toughest competitors, IPB and UGM, finished second and third.

?We were really shocked. From the beginning IPB made our blood run cold by sending 24 teams to move on to regional selection. But, praise the Lord, we defeated them,? expressed Sharon.

For their next move, the UPH Food Technology team is going to represent Indonesia at ?The 14th ASEAN Food Conference?, held 24-26 June, 2015 in the Philippines, with the theme of ?The Bigger Picture: One ASEAN Through Food Technology.? The UPH team acknowledged that the endless support from lecturers and friends at UPH certainly helped them finish so well. They have already begun preparation for competing at AFC 2015. (fc)
