It has been one of school?s responsibilities to provide the best information to support the future of its students, this includes introducing students with college activities. This was shown by SMA St. Theresia Menteng by choosing Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) as the destination for Campus Life Introduction to its students.
They visited UPH on 3 and 4 June 2015, and participated by 259 students from grade 10 and 11. The group of students and teachers were welcomed by UPH Student Consultant team and were directly accompanied to join a campus tour. SMA St. Theresia visited several faculties, such as the Faculty of Computer Science (FIK) especially, Microsoft Innovation Center, Oracle, SAS and IBM, the Faculty of Economy (FE), the Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP), the Faculty of Law (FH) and the Pelita Harapan School of Hospitality and Tourism (STTPH). After the visit, students joined the information session about the programs offered at UPH in a form of talk show, talking about three faculties, which are Faculty of Economy, Faculty of Computer Science and Faculty of Social and Political Science. This talk show presented speakers from the three faculties, Prof. Aleksius Jemadu, Ph.d., Dean of FISIP UPH, Maria S. Aryani, the Marketing and Internal Affairs Manager of FE UPH and Adrianto Gunawan, S.T., Director of Partner Relationship Management of FIK UPH, followed by an extra presentation on the second day by Elfi, S.E., M.M., the Director Faculty Administration and Student Affairs of FISIP UPH.
The speakers explained about several essential points for students in choosing major at university. ?In choosing university, specifically when you want to enter the business major, you also need to look at the possibility of network that exists in that university. Aside from that, you also need to see the alumni, and how many of them who have been working in a certain company. UPH offers 9 terms where students are being equipped with specific theories and practical skills, with a diverse selection of concentrations,? Maria explained.
On the other hand, the representation from the UPH FIK, Adrianto, introduced the faculty?s 5 partners, which are Microsoft, Oracle, SAS, IBM and Cisco. The affiliation with those 5 IT Principles ensures the transfer of technology for lecturers and students. ?UPH FIK also gives one of 5 certifications which is already covered by the college tuition fee where in fact, people who own certification, has an income rate of 25% higher than the regular market,? said Adrianto.
Meanwhile, Prof. Aleksius explained about the programs of UPH FISIP as well as the future challenges in Social Politic at Indonesia. ?UPH excellent facilities do not mean that it is expensive, however, it shows the sincerity of the institution in preparing a great learning atmosphere. Aside from that, UPH wants to educate graduates with a holistic education as the tool to be a competent and capable individuals,? stated Aleksius.
The students and teachers who joined this event said that they were really satisfied and pleased. ?Compare to other universities that we have visited, UPH environment is the best one. I don?t even realize that it has been noon already, because the event is not boring at all! The place is also very nice,? stated the students as they toured around the facilities of UPH campus. (el)
