UPH again hosted a High School Summer Holiday Program 2015 which was held in June 18th-20th, 2015 and was joined by 35 high school students who came from various cities in Indonesia.
UPH again hosted a High School Summer Holiday Program 2015 which was held in June 18th-20th, 2015 and was joined by 35 high school students who came from various cities in Indonesia. This was the second year for UPH to offer holiday in the form of fun and adventurous activities in the real campus life. For three days the participants were introduced with the faculties/majors offered at UPH as well as to experience how the campus life feels like. The series of events was comprised of workshop, seminar, games, simulation and outdoor activities.
The first day began with the Team Building session that was delivered by the team from World Teach Indonesia (WTI). In this session, the participants were given understandings and decision making skill as well as to determine the life purposes, including how to choose the right major in the university. Moreover, the next session was the workshops from several faculties, such as TV News Anchor Workshop from Communication major. This workshop gave participants the more in-depth understanding on the occupation as broadcaster where they were taught on how to be a news presenter on the talk-show. They also learned how to operate a set of camera, sound and so on. The Cooking Class Workshop followed after in which was delivered by STPPH (Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Pelita Harapan), Robotics and Programming Workshop from Faculty of Computer Science, Entrepreneurship Workshop by Management major of UPH Business School. The first day was ended by the Character Profiling Test and Sharing Session.
On the second day, the participants began their day with the Water Based Activity brought by the Sport Department team at the Olympic Size Swimming Pool. Although they got soaking wet, the participants were happy and enthusiastic. Then, they joined the Fun Adventure with Science and Technology by Faculty of Science and Technology (FaST) in the format of Crime Scene Investigation (CSI). They were given the sample case of murder, in which they had to investigate whether that person being murdered was literally killed, who was the suspect, or it was merely an accident, since there was an earthquake happened before the body was found. Then all participants must visited all the faculties under FaST (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Food Technology and Electrical Engineering to collect the evidences that supported the investigation as well as to introduce them the area of each faculty.
Furthermore, they joined the Workshop of Introduction to Animation by Visual Communication Design major, where all participants were taught to draw a simple animation by using soft wares, and then followed by the Tour and Travel Workshop, in which they were challenged to design a tour package for three days and two nights with assigned countries as destination. The second day was ended by the TOEFL Test Simulation and Sharing Session where they could share their experiences while joining the Summer Holiday 2015.
Lastly, on the third day, the participants again began their activities with exercises. This time, Cardio-based Activity. The participants were practiced the 15-minute workout that does not need equipment. After that, they sat in the Model United Nations Simulation hosted by UPH International Relations department where all students played a role as the delegation for different countries in UN. There they also learned on how to negotiate for some global issues. UPH Law School delivered the next session on how the simulation of moot court takes place, especially in the national court. The entire Summer Holiday program was completed by the photo session and awards for the categories of Best Participant, Best Athlete and Most Friendly Participant. (fc/el)
