UPH Business School held the “How to Conduct Research in Quantitative Perspective”, as part of the Coaching Mentoring Program dedicated for educators nationwide on 30th May 2015, Building D, UPH Karawaci. Seminar was led by Dr. Sabrina O. Sihombing M.Bus, the Head of Office Research and Publication UPH Business School and Dr. Ir. Innocentius Bernarto, marketing lecturer at UPH Business School. The class was participated by more than 10 schools, amounting to 45 people within the school holiday period. 

 

 

The first session was presented by Dr. Sabrina, setting the purpose of research and what should we look for to achieve a quality research. She shared that too many research are conducted without much of a problem to solve, which is explained as ‘Gap’. The ‘Gap’ presented here is not necessarily something that is wrong or has to be rectified immediately, but seen as a condition where a gap exists between the actual and desired ideal states. Dr. Sabrina shared on gathering data in Quantitative Perspective is gathered from many possible data sources as well as on “asking the right question’ in survey and questionnaire to produce a more accurate data result.

Using data analytic software SPSS, by Dr. Ir. Innocentius
Dr. Ir. Innocentius shared the class on the second session with the help of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software, all the data gathered can be used to predict values from dependent variables, the ups and down and the correlation. Class was full of interactions from fellow teachers helping each other as well as putting in context on how the knowledge can be useful for their own school.

 

More than half of the class has already enrolled for the upcoming event, which will be held in September 2015, resulted from our online survey and registration.(fc/bs-nn)
