UPH Master of Management (MM) Program presented Choky Sitohang ? Entrepreneurship, Entertainer and Public Speaker, along with Dayu Dara Permata, Co-Founder and Co-Head of Go-Life / VP Go-Jek Indonesia, to share some insights on the theme ?Branding in E-Commerce Industry? to students of UPH MM Program at Post Graduate campus, Plaza Semanggi, on Wednesday, April 27 2016.

Choky, who is the founder of NICK Entertaiment and CHOSSI (Choky Sitohang Speaking Incorporation), provided important explanation about Personal Branding in theme ‘Brand Image and Brand Identity’. According to Choky, competing in the industrialized world, brand becomes an important requirement. Brand itself is how one is able to bring him or herself, usually referred as Personal Branding. Therefore, when someone wants to compete and have a brand, methods on building a personal brand should be examined beforehand.

?Brand is built through experience, talent, exercise, and certainly passion. Through the establishment of this personal brand, an image will be built to the point where we will be trusted by consumers and our surrounding,? Choky explained.

Choky also explained that in building a brand, image is not the utmost important, nor should it be the main focus. Instead, identity is the paramount aspect. Identity, according to Choky, is the root of everything and affects our character, so that when we properly understand our identity, then we will be able to build a personal brand to finally create a positive image.

“Building a brand means that we are willing to do more than just any other service, so that our clients will trust us. To do this, it takes a combination of several things, such as talent, experience that produces strength, passion and experience that result in standardization, talent and passion that produces a value, and finally these strength, standardization, and value form a brand. The bottom line is that it takes this whole combination,? Choky said, ending his discussion.

In line with Choky, Dayu Dara Permata also shared her viewpoint regarding brand. Dayu began his explanation with her reason for joining Go-Jek, which is based on the considerations regarding visions and impacts that Go-Jek is able to deliver. Dayu Dara joined Go-Jek since 2015, and within a year she has seen so many revolutions and developments from Go-Jek. Dayu said that Go-Jek continues to provide maximum service to consumers. For Dayu, the achievement of Go-Jek in committing to continue this service is inseparable from the brand that is established.

“Brand itself is capable of being a reason to help a person in choosing a product. With products that serve the same function, consumers have reason to choose a particular brand. Through Brand, customers can be associated to simply select a product,? Dayu said.
