The development of globalization world phenomenon which continues to move will encourage the emergence of competition in every aspect. But unfortunately in welcoming these developments, there are still many limitations in various aspects which become an obstacle to younger generation?s creativity, for example, area, appreciation, as well as financial resources. This background is the reason why Student Association of Management (HMM) Business School Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) carries the theme ‘Borderless Opportunities’ in the annual department activity ‘Business Week 2016’ that took place on May 9-13, 2016 at UPH Campus Karawaci, Lippo Village, Tangerang.
Business Week 2016 has several programs, including PHBC (Pelita Harapan Business Challenge), which is a competition participated by students from various universities, a competition for high school students called CUBIC (Creativity and Uniqueness-based Business Idea Competition) and talk show with professional business.
PHBC is joined by 15 universities from various regions such as Binus, London School of Public Relations, Raffles, Prasetya Mulya, Universitas Indonesia, UBAYA, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and others. While CUBIC, which took place on May 2-3, 2016, was followed by 16 high schools such as IPEKA, Athalia, Bunda Hati Kudus, BPK Penabur, Harapan Bangsa, Mentari International School, Pahoa, and several other high schools.
Certainly, the whole event is intended to broaden and encourage creative ideas of college students as well as high school students who are going to plunge into the business world in the future. In addition, of course, the younger generation will be encouraged to be sensitive of the existing opportunities and to utilize them. It was also revealed by Jacob Donald Tan, BBA., MBA – Head of the Department for Management UPH
“This event can become a means for the young generation to be aware of opportunities. Opportunities will only be there for those who are ready. Use this opportunity to express the idea that exists,” Jacob said.
Besides Jacob, Johanna Josidupuro, Chairman of HMJM 2015-2016, also said that we are now living in a global world where there should be many opportunities. However, according to Johanna, we are often inhibited by the thoughts and attitudes to give up easily. Therefore, Business Week is held every year since 2010 and continuously seeks out to present with a variety of creativity.
This whole series of Business Week event ended on May 13, 2016 with the convening of Business Talk Show for all participants from various universities, as well as UPH students.
