Students of the Communication Science of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) encouraged young people, such as students, to renew their understanding of Indonesia as a country with many cultures and how this diversity should not be misunderstood as a hindrance for people to communicate, in contrary it has to be understood as a way of uniting the nation. This was the main topic for the annual event from the communication major of UPH, ?Communication Avenue? (Comvee) 2016, which took ?Dimension: Diversity Make Us a Nation? as its theme. This event was held on May, 23-27 2016, at the UPH Karawaci Campus, Lippo Village, Tangerang.

This year, Comvee has officially turned a decade. For the celebration of the 10th Comvee, the committee had sought to create a festive event, started with a parade and a brand new opening event. According to the theme, ?Diversity?, the committee presented a flash mob with traditional songs, followed by a colorful fashion show and the committee also spread a colorful cloth as a symbolism of Indonesia?s culture diversity.

Symbolically, Comvee 2016 was officially opened with Naniek N. Setijadi, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Social and Politics (FISIP) and Randy Andy Putra, as the head committee, releasing colorful balloons.

According to Randy, a student of Communication Major 2013, this event was held to create ways for students of the Communication major to show their creativity, through a series of event, which would represent each specialization of the Communication major Study Program.

?Comvee 2016 has a great goal, both internally and externally. The internal goal was to familiarize all Communication major students from every batch. Meanwhile, the external goal of this year?s Comvee was to build a good relationship with other universities, as well as to improve the existence of the Communication Major of UPH, through the creativity of its students,? Randy explained.

Randy also explained some new programs in this year?s Comvee 2016. If last year?s Comvee had the Call for Paper competition as its main event, for this year, the committee team wanted to accentuate three concentrations of the Communication major; they are Public Relations, Integrated Marketing Communications and Journalism, by conducting various competitions, such as Radio Announcing Competition, with ?The Colors of Indonesia? as a theme, on May 24, 2016, News Presenting Competition with ?Archipelago?s Sky? as the theme, on May 25, 2016 and at last, an Advertising Competition. This competition was opened for students from various universities, such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, Universitas Binus, Universitas Prasetya Mulya, President University, Universitas Tarumanegara and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta.

Aside from Advertising competition, another new event at the Comvee 2016 is an ?open for public competition?, such as soccer and IFUTO competition (Communication Major Soccer Photography).

Comvee 2016 did not just have competitions as its main attraction. In this year?s Comvee, a seminar was also held with ?The Role of Creative Communication towards Cultural Transformation? as a theme. This seminar was hosted by Arief Muhammad, a youtuber who is famous for his vlogs as well as his Instagram and twitter account. This seminar was held on May 25, 2016 (mt).
