Lippo Village, August 20, 2016 – The last day of the 23rd UPH Festival began with a Founder?s Fun Run for Charity, which was held to support the education program in Papua.

The Founder of UPH, Dr. (HC) James T. Riady Ran Together with New Students and other Participants in the ?Founder?s Fun Run for Charity? in the 23rd UPH Festival

The last day of the 23rd UPH Festival began with a Founder?s Fun Run for Charity, which was held to support the education program in Papua. Approximately, 4000 participants, including the Founder of UPH, Rector, lecturers, senior students as well as all of the new students, participated in this event. The event was opened with an opening speech from the Founder of UPH, Dr (HC) James T. Riady and Stephen L. Metcalfe, as the Director of UPH Sport Department.

?This is not a running competition, so you don?t have to rush to get to the finish line, because necessarily, everyone will get to finish this.? James T. Riady explained. Then, Stephen L. Metcalfe also delivered his opening speech, which contains the main reason why this event was held, ?God has a purpose and reason to create humans, and that is to glorify His name, and this morning, we will glorify God with our physical power. All in all, whether you were running or walking along this event, do it all for the glory of God.?

In this event, participants were divided into two groups, the first one would run with James Riady and the second group was the professionals who would run with Metcalfe, 20 minutes after the first group had started running. Participants would run for 5 kilometers from UPH soccer field back to UPH soccer field again.

The participants looked very enthusiastic, for example is this one student from the International Teachers College. Henry was from Uganda and he felt really happy to be able to join this event, ?I felt really happy to be able to join this kind of event because I can get many benefits from it, one of it is being healthy. And because I often do this kind of activity in my country, I didn?t experience any difficulty to finish this 5K run. If there will be another event like this in UPH, I will be sure to follow.?

Of course, it was not just Henry; there were many other students who came from various cities, who also enjoyed this event. Lya, a Nursing Student who came from Merauke, also conveyed her impression about this event, ?I?m really happy to join this event, because I think that sport is not a thing that everyone likes, but through this event, I, who didn?t really like to do sports, could get motivated to do exercise again.? The Founder?s Fun Run for Charity was then continued with the series of the event from the 23rd UPH Festival. (hc)
