?The key point to success is not only about adequate cognitive competency, but even more than that, success needs integrity and in holistic education concept, we teach them about that. Through this education concept, we want to shape our students to become whole human beings, in their soul, mind and heart,? said the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Prof. Aleksius Jemadu Ph.D., during Dean?s Talk on September 17, 2016 at UPH Campus.
In the occasion, Prof. Aleksius explained the uniqueness of the three programs in FISIP UPH, they are Communication, International Relation and Political Sciences. He also explained the Case Project Learning Method, which is used for the three programs. ?With this method, students are trained to solve cases with theories they have learned in their classes,? he stated.
Aside from that, in the end of the session, Prof. Aleksius encouraged parents to know and understand better of their children?s potential, so that they are able to encourage them in participating in various organizational activities in campus, in order for them to develop their character. According to him, parents should not impose their children in choosing the major they want, because at the end, children would not be motivated to undergo their studies.
The Dean?s Talk was attended by parents and High School Students who are interested in continuing their studies in FISIP UPH. Dean?s Talk was held to introduce the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) to more people, with Prof. Aleksius Jemadu Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, as the host.
Aside from that, Elfi, S.E., M.M., as the Director of Faculty Administration and Student Affairs in FISIP UPH, also gave some motivation to parents. ?We really encourage you to attend to your children?s development. Because, good communication will build their sense of responsibility towards their own education and thus, they will become more independent,? said Elfi.
One of the participants, Mr. Chandra, said that this event was very helpful, because it provides them with information that parents needed to know. ?This event is very useful for us parents and also, our children as prospective students. Because, in this event, all the information was told by experts, so we can be sure that the information is authentic. I?m very glad that UPH is being proactive in providing us with these kinds of information, through Dean?s Talk.?
