Dr. (HC) Mochtar Riady: ?The UPH Faculty of Law Needs to be Sensitive Towards Change?

During the celebration of the 20^th Dies Natalis, despite all the achievements they have successfully obtained, Dr. (HC.) Mochtar Riady reminded all of them to build their sensitivity towards changes which might affect legal practice.

?The Science of Law has a very important role in a nation. The development of a nation is determined by the role and function of the law in itself. The discipline of a nation is placed within the law in the nation. Thus, UPH wants to educate legal practitioners who are morally equipped. Without morals these legal experts could not be useful for anyone. So actually, is law definite and unchanging? This is an important question for all of us here,? said Dr. Mochtar.

He also explained the change of technological domination, which used to be ruled by Japan, to China. This thing happens because no sensitivity towards change is issued. ?Would the Faculty of Law UPH be able to keep its triumph? Many companies fell down due to their lack of sensitivity towards the change in technology, economics and politics. Thus, FH UPH will have to be sensitive towards these changes,? Dr. Mochtar conveyed.

Aside from that, Dr. Mochtar also explained the changes that Indonesia has to face, they are informatics and technological, biotechnology and nano-technology revolution. These changes could bring Indonesia towards the third era: digital economics, services-oriented economics, and total competition era.

Acknowledging the reality, Dr. Mochtar wants to encourage all member of the UPH Faculty of Law to think deeper about the trade law in Indonesia, whether it would need changes or not.

 ?If we do not think about this right now, it will be hard for us to keep on going. But when we could think and even become the pioneer, then I think that we, all members of the UPH Faculty of Law  can keep our triumph remains,? Dr. Mochtar ended. (mt/mv)
