For the very first time, students of Universitas Pelita Harapan Faculty of Law (FH UPH) won 3rd place in the ?National Contract Drafting Competition: The 7th Business Law Competition 2016, Hafni Sjahruddin Trophy?, which was held in Universitas Indonesia, Depok, September 16-19, 2016. The team from FH UPH was represented by Theresia Fransmanto (2014), Manja Indah Sari (2014), Rosari Sarasvaty (2014), Eko Prakoso Johannes (2014) Don Vito Hasian (2014) and Thyani Putri Perdana (2015), with Jerry Shalmont as their supervisor.
This competition was followed by 16 universities from all over Indonesia. The competition itself consists of two stages, the elimination round and the finals. In the elimination round, delegates must send their contract documents and in the finals, delegates have to do a contract negotiation simulation between a rubber export company and a freight company.
The team from the UPH Faculty of Law had successfully passed the elimination round as the big six, who will continue their path to the finals along with five other universities: Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Diponegoro and Universitas Indonesia. Later on, in the finals, the team from the UPH Faculty of Law had managed to won 3rd place, after Universitas Padjajaran in the 2nd place and Universitas Sebelas Maret in the 1st place.
This competition is a contract drafting competition, held by the Business Law Society (BLS), which is a part of the Law Faculty of Universitas Indonesia, which was held annually with different topics every year. For this year?s contract drafting competition, the committee took ?Envision Glory towards Indonesia as an Economic Maritime Power through Business and Maritime Law? as the topic. For contract drafting itself, each team has to prepare their contract regarding transport collaboration, between an exporting company and a freight company.
