UPH Faculty of Education Appointed as Panelist Team for 2nd Region West Jakarta National Teacher Olympiad

UPH Faculty of Education (FIP UPH) has gained the trust of the Head of Suku Dinas Pendidikan of the 2nd Region Administration City of West Jakarta, to held the 2017 National Teacher Olympiad (NTO) of the 2nd Region of Administration City of West Jakarta.

This appointment was based on the recommendation of Kasudin Pendidikan of the 2nd Region Administration City of West Jakarta, who sees the competency and independence of FIP-UPH lecturers. The competency of FIP-UPH lecturers was meant to ensure the quality of the NTO questions? substance, construction, and readability.

According to Budi Wibawanta, Head of Department of UPH Faculty of Education, with this appointment, UPH was also assigned to prepare 21 question packages for all subjects and educational levels, starting from Elementary School, Middle School, High School, as well as Vocational Secondary School

?In preparing the questions, we strictly follow the competency indications which has been appointed by the government. Afterward, we were also entrusted to monitor the whole process, up to the assessment and the selection of chosen representatives to pass the provincial level,? Budi explained.

The test will cover a number of subjects such as Indonesian Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social for Elementary School teachers, whereas, for Middle School teachers, the test will also include the English Language. Meanwhile, for High School and Vocational Secondary School, there would be more subjects such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Sociology, Geography, History and Penjasorkes (Physical Education).

The written test for the 2017 2nd Region West Jakarta National Teacher Olympiad was held on May 10, 2017. The Olympiad for the Elementary level was held on 07.30 ? 09.30 WIB and for Junior High, Senior High and Vocational High School level, the test was held from 10.00 ? 12.00 WIB. The test took place at the Computer Lab of SMKN 13 Jakarta, Jl. Rawa Belong II-E, Palmerah, West Jakarta.

The total amount of participants who passed the selection process from each school in order to follow this competition reached 360 teachers from all educational levels. Afterward, the panelist team will decide on one person for each subject and each educational level to represent the 2nd Region of West Jakarta for the National Teacher Olympiad at the Provincial Level of DKI Jakarta.

FIP-UPH?s contribution was very much appreciated by Ka-Sudin Pendidikan of the 2nd Region West Jakarta, especially regarding the matter of improvement in the quality of the questions as well as the objectivity during the assessment process. Moreover, FIP-UPH always welcomes further collaboration in other fields, especially to help improve the competency and quality of teachers; such as through training and workshops for teachers, seminars, and community service.

National Teacher Olympiad itself is a means to improve the quality of education as well as a quest for the most eminent teachers, who are qualified in education, competency, professionalism, and their performance. Hopefully, through this event and with the improvement of these teachers? quality, there will be positive impacts for their carrier as well as the quality of education in Indonesia. (rh)
