This event was an implementation of the collaboration between UPH and Suku Dinas Pendidikan (Dispendik) of DKI Jakarta in providing training programs to enhance teachers? competency. This training program was followed by 300 teachers from various levels of education, starting from elementary, junior high and senior high school in West Jakarta. The training method that was used was coaching and mentoring, with the main topic being ?Classroom Action Research?. The topic surrounds a number of other subjects such as the essential steps for classroom action research and how to use the research result to improve teaching. These materials were a part of the first session which was given by Dr. Ing. Ihan Martoyo and Eric Jobiliong Ph.D., both are lecturers of UPH Faculty of Science and Technology (FaST). Meanwhile, the second session was brought by Atalya, M.Pd. dan Juniriang Zendrato M.Pd., M. Ed., a lecturer from the Faculty of Education UPH, with the topic on ?How to become a Reflective Teacher?.
Grace Salim as the representative of UPH for this event, stated that this program was conducted based on the understanding that teachers have an essential role and responsibility for the future of this nation. ?In this training, we?re focusing our discussion on pedagogy because teachers need to know how to develop their knowledge from methodology development research side,? Grace stated. Meanwhile, Dr. Hj. Uripasih welcomed this collaboration with great enthusiasm. ?I warmly welcome this program for the great objective it has, that is to enhance the quality and competence of Human Resources, which in this case are the teachers in all levels of education, including elementary, junior high, senior high as well as vocational high school in this second region,? he stated.
A number of teachers conveyed their appreciation for this training and some event. They felt that the training is too short for quite a lot of discussion material. This sure will become an input for other programs which might be held by UPH in the future.
After the training, participants will receive a certificate which has been signed by the Head of Suku Dinas Pendidikan of the 2nd Region Administration City of West Jakarta, Dr. Hajah Uripasih. The certificate was given during UPH Public Exposure, an event which was held by UPH at Lippo Mall Puri, which was located near to the office of West Jakarta Mayor. The Rector of UPH was also present to welcome the teachers and the Kasudin Pendidikan of West Jakarta, to present a token of appreciation and to have a photo session with the teacher representatives who participated in the training. |
