Students? potential development is one of the main focuses in the UPH Faculty of Law. Thus, the faculty leaders decided to collaborate with Law Students Association (HMFH), to conduct various activities to support the development of students? potential. There is a debate club called DARE (Debate and Research), where students are trained to state their argument and to sharpen their problem solving ability under the guidance of experts. There are also non-academic activities in the Faculty of Law, such as soccer club, basketball club, futsal and Christian Law Society (Praying Club).
?All of the activities provided are not mandatory, but every student are given the opportunity to choose according to their liking. Even so, each activity has been prepared thoroughly, based on Biblical principal,? explained Velliana Tanaya, S.H., M.H., Director Administration of UPH Faculty of Law, in Dean?s Talk event, which was held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at MYC Multipurpose Room, 2nd floor of Building C, UPH.
This Dean?s Talk was held by Marketing Department to introduce the programs of the UPH Faculty of Law, to a number of parents and students, who will be continuing their studies in the Faculty of Law UPH. Aside from that, the Head of Law Studies Department, Vincentia Esti P., S.H., M.H., was also present at the event, to explain some things regarding the department and the specialization.
During the occasion, the development of UPH Faculty of Law since 1996 up until now was also presented to the participants; both the academic and non-academic developments were informed, such as three times ?A? accreditation from BAN PT, in 15 years terms, the constantly increasing number of students, as well as classes with English as language of instruction. There are also a variety of concentrations, such as Business Law, International Law and Law Proficiency. These three concentrations are currently high in demand among the society.
The UPH Faculty of Law also provides a variety of facilities to support students, inside and outside the class. There is a court simulation room, which was made to train students to be accustomed with the situation in a court room. Aside from that, the facilities are completed with competent lecturers, and seminars are held frequently. Public lecture and workshops with professor and even expatriate are also held frequently, to give the best learning experience to students.
Kinship is also one of the most essential values in the Law Faculty of UPH. Alumni often come to share their experience and knowledge to their juniors. In this occasion, the Faculty of Law student, Nadya Andyrasari Mulya (2013), was invited to share the testimony regarding her studies.
This outstanding student has won a variety of competitions, both local and international. On this occasion, she shared the opportunities available for the students of UPH Faculty of Law. She also stated that through her learning in UPH, she could expand her knowledge and skills in Law practice and she could also experience internship in prestigious law firm, who sponsored the competitions she followed.
In the end of the event, all participants were given the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the UPH Faculty of Law. One of the participant shared her experience in following the Dean?s Talk: ?For me, the event was pretty interesting, there were lots of information, which I could only get here,? said Carol, a 10th grade students who has interest in entering the UPH Faculty of Law.
