Henry also mentioned the causal factor of plagiarism, which is the poor academic ethics, the coherency with the judicial court, and the poorness of filtering novelty creation. A lot of cases are related to plagiarism in final thesis, and dissertation. For example: BP at Jakarta Post, and AA article at Kompas are one of the proof of plagiarism. It?s also mentioned that there are a few kinds of plagiarism such as idea plagiarism, word by words plagiarism, source plagiarism, and author plagiarism. There are also ?self plagiarism? type, which is recycling works, and double publication.
Plagiarism is not just an ethical problem, but plagiarism is a lawsuit problem. Plagiarism is one interesting topic to discuss. ?This year we bring plagiarism as a topic because we can already see some cases that happened in the universities in Indonesia, where a lot of professors or professor candidates get caught on doing the plagiarism.? said Esterina. She also mentioned that intellectual honesty needed to be remembered in all universities. This thing is correspondingly with UPH vision, Godly character. Intellectual honesty is part of Godly character, which we want to apply to UPH internal system, and also to the public.
