Tuesday, June 19, 2012 became an important day for 15 universities and Himpunan Psikologi Indonesia (Himpsi), who cooperated to publish Indonesian Journal of Indigenous Psychology (Jurnal Psikologi Ulayat), because on that day the memorandum of agreements were signed by the representatives of those universities. The agreements were signed at Universitas Pelita Harapan Karawaci, attended by 10 representatives of those 15 universities.
The idea to publish Indonesian Journal of Indigenous Psychology (Jurnal Psikologi Ulayat) came from Prof. Dr. Sarlito Wirawan Sarwono, a professor from Universitas Persada Indonesia Yayasan Administrasi Indonesia (UPI Y.A.I). ?When I was a Dean at UPI Y.A.I, I saw that a faculty should have journals, but I found that the journals were ineligible. Then I tried to create a new journal, but the cost was expensive. I tried to look for sponsors, but it did not work. I gathered some of my colleagues later, then we joined to make this journal?, he explain.
This journal aimed to accommodate researches from the lecturers. ?By having research that published in a journal, the lecturers certainly would have higher cum, hopefully, this journal could also be a media for knowledge sharing among psychology communities, and could be a trigger for the emergence of similar journals?, said Prof. Dr. Sarlito.
The Board of Editors will publish the journal 3 times a year and firstly publish the journal in September 2012. The 15 universities who make the journal will certainly contribute to send their researches. There is also an opportunity for other universities to send their researches to be published in Indonesian Journal of Indigenous Psychology as long as it is eligible.
?The target of this publishing is the students?, said Eko Prasetyo as the Head of Editor Board. ?Besides these 15 universities, we will also distribute Indonesian Journal of Indigenous Psychology to other universities. The distribution aims to indicate the existence of Indonesian Journal of Indigenous Psychology?, Eko continued.
