Ayako Kawai, the forth generation of the founder of Kawai, a leading musical instruments company all over the world, came to UPH on Thursday, January 19, 2012 to discuss possible collaboration with UPH in order to improve the music education across the world. In search of the perfect site to establish a new music school in Indonesia, Kawai representations describe their dreams about music education in the future.
?The trend now is to start early. It is not just about a 4-year-old practice their finger technique, but also nurturing the emotional part. They need to learn how to be more expressive, they need to learn how to feel the emotions,? stated Akihiro Iitsuka, representative from “Music Education department” of Kawai Japan. Therefore, Kawai trains the subconscious level of every student to be able to express their feeling without really knows every detail of the music. In general, 20 years ago, music education was about discipline in music training. The children were asked to practice the song repetitiously. In fact, this made the children easily get bored and lost their passion. Thus, an adjustment should be done for the music curriculum. The new curriculum will fit into the need of the children so that the students will have fun in playing the music. This way, with a holistic approach, music education will prepare the children in the long run, not just for a few years. With this in mind, Kawai music school will collaborate with UPH lecturers in providing the best music education that will encourage the passion of the children. The music school will be opened in the near future. ?By visiting UPH, I am now confident that this mutual relationship can make our plan possible,? he added. (dee) UPH Media Relations |
