Information Literacy Training for Trainers (Intermediate Class)

After five month passes by since February 2010, further discussion about the librarian training is being held again in UPH ? Karawaci on July 28th ? 30th 2010.

The held event was arranged by the corporation of Johannes Oentoro UPH library and Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH) had purpose of cooperating with the college and other schools that are not only came from Jakarta but even until East Java.

UPH aimed to share and add insight the librarian through this seminar. ?UPH already had the best literacy program in their library and we want to share it to the other librarian.? Said Esterina Jonathan, Johannes Oentoro Library?s manager.

Literacy means the effort to share knowledge and gives training to those librarians in gathering information data, how they process information, as well as how they organize and present it in a research, presentation, and event writing.

Dhama G. Baskoro as the head coordinator of this event said how important this training is for those librarians in order not to get left behind from the others. By training the librarians, hopefully they will be trainers to train the other librarians.

?This training could complete the librarian with an expertise and ability to do the information literacy to those library users such as college, students, and other users.? Said Dhama.

Different then the event on February, where the event was about the designing a curriculum which also doing researching analysis, and this time the intermediate class is devoted to design the evaluation system, measurement and cognitive strategy to instructing the difference technical information literacy.

On Thursday, July 29th 2010, Dora Aruan and Agustina Widya Gunawan team from UNIKA Atmajaya Jakarta had made a book entitled ?Literasi Informasi: 7 Langkah Knowledge Management? together with Diao Ai Lien and two of two of their associate gives the presentation on February and continue the different topic about ?Identity topic, RQ, and Keyword.?

?When a person is being exposed with visual then people will have the different flexibility in the visual that they have and not necessarily get the same stimulus.? Said Agustin. While Dora added that a researcher will be better in giving away many questions, because with many questions it will continues to a specific question that lead to be the focus on the research.

The seminar participations came from Institute Pertanian Bogor, UNPAD, FIKOM UNPAD, UPH, FK UI, UI, UNTAR, Binus, UNIKA Atmajaya, STT Tiranus, Sekolah Tunas Muda, SMAK Penabur 7 BPK Jakarta, UIN, UIEA, and many more from the other librarians from different institute that wants to get a better librarian fro other institution and getting the better result to be applied in their library.
