Last Feb 27, Prof. DR. Moh. Amien Rais gave a public lecture at UPH upon invitation of our Senate. The lecture emphasized on how Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution has yet been properly viewed by the Government as discussed on his book ?Agenda Mendesak Bangsa: Selamatkan Indonesia? (?National Demanding Agenda: Save Indonesia?). Such premise is proven through?state capture corruption?practice that Government has become a mere expansion of corporations. With the help of legislation, rationalization and justification of Government, the corporations have been exploiting our state?s wealth for so many years by dictating contract in mining, banking, education, health, water supply and others. Prof. Amien ended the lecture with how Indonesia must respect the principle of?pacta sunt survanda?but must not forget the clause of?rebus sic stantibus. National interest should come first and corporate?s interests shall not surpass. Prof. Amien currently holds the position of the Chairman of Advisory Board of Partai Amanat Nasional and Muhammadiyah. He is also a professor at Gadjah Mada University.
