UPH Voxcom once again wins the Gold Medal in BICF 2018

Voxcom UPH (Pelita Harapan University) won a gold medal in the Championship of Acapella category at The 7th BICF (Bali International Choir Festival) 2018, held in Bali on July 24-28, 2018.

Voxcom UPH (Pelita Harapan University) won a gold medal in the Championship of Acapella category at The 7th BICF (Bali International Choir Festival) 2018, held in Bali on July 24-28, 2018. Voxcom UPH is a forum for students who are interested and have more skills in the vocal field, especially for CoM students.
 
 

 

Before going to The 7th BICF 2018, Voxcom UPH had the pre-concert on May 28, 2018, as one form of gathering support and training before they performed on BICF. In addition to the Voxcom UPH concert, UPH also held several concerts, one of which was the “Empowered Woman Empower Woman” concert showcase.

 

 

“Besides UPH Voxcom pre-concert, we also held an “Empowered Woman Empower Woman” concert showcase. These concerts become our practice to train when performing on stage. Not only that, surely we also did intense training as preparation. For 6-7 months we are preparing ourselves for this competition,” explained Nadia Delarosa, a member of Voxcom, Conservatory of Music (CoM) Concentration in Music Composition, 2013.

 

 

BICF  is an international-scale choir festival organized by the Bandung Choral Society in Bali. This time, ‘Wonderful BICF, Together is Better’ is the theme of BICF and its enlivened by 146 groups of participants from 10 countries, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, China, Philippines, Lithuania, and others.

 

 

Each representative is required to prepare the song and appearance that will be performed on this 2018 BICF stage. Especially for UPH, Nadia said that Voxcom presented 2 pieces of work, “Burn”, Arrangement by Chris Rishel & “Creek-Rise up”, Arrangement by Christoper Jimmy Lim.

 

 

“We have a good preparation for these two songs and we always present them to every concert that held before BICF. For all the processes and achievements that we have achieved, we are very grateful to be able to achieve this achievement, “said Nadia.

 

 

Both For Nadia and the 10th other of VoxCoM member feel that their processes and achievements in BICF bring a memorable experience. Starting from the experience of singing, trained to be disciplined, practice and gives the best effort. Both in terms of vocal techniques, song material, appearance, and so on.

 

 

“In every achievement and experience that we feel, we know that CoM UPH has prepared us both in terms of knowledge as well as musical techniques. Not only that, CoM also facilitates its students with events or concerts that involve students as performers, so we become more prepared when performing outside, “said Nadia.

 

The 7th BICF 2018 competition was held with a great fanfare, with a variety of choir performances, such as acapella performances performed by UPH, Student Choir performances, folklore performances, Pop and Jazz, Music of Religion, and others. From each category, the winner who won the gold medal announced, and as a Grand Prix Award winner, Padjajaran University Student Choir won an award.
