UPH PUBLIC EXPOSURE 2017

As one of the leading private universities in Indonesia, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) has done various works to build the nation through education. UPH has practice holistic education in order to realize the three pillars of higher education based on the vision of ?True Knowledge, Faith in Christ and Godly Character?. During its 23 years of commitment, UPH has produced various works, both by the students as well as the professor and lecturers, who gave their contribution to the development of our nation. At last, the works of UPH was presented to the public through an event called ?UPH PUBLIC EXPOSURE? which was held on July 28-30, 2017, at the Lobby of Lippo Mall Puri, Jakarta, from 10:00 to 21:00 WIB.

During the event, a total of 31 study program from 13 faculties were present with their works, which will be shown to the public so they can get to know and closer to these works. More than 40 professors and lecturers were giving their time for the public through workshop, seminar, talk show, and certainly, through the works produced by their students. A number of UPH Alumni also participated in this event.

?Each year, UPH always held a festival that is open to the public. During this event, tens of thousands people, especially students, come to UPH because the event itself was held near the campus. Aside from that, UPH has also appeared in malls during some particular events. But this time is different, we want to fully introduce UPH to the public, so they can get to know UPH better,? said UPH Rector, Jonathan L Parapak, during the opening of “UPH Public Exposure 2017” in Jakarta, Friday (28/7/17).

Some of the works and achievements which have been produced by UPH include the Moot Court team of UPH Faculty of Law, who has been delegating Indonesia for 8 years consecutively in International Moot Court Competition in Washington DC, America, and at the same time, the team always receives a number of awards.  Aside from that, UPH had also won a National Science Olympiad in Mathematics and Biology; Represented Indonesia in Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) since 2013 and has also received a number of awards; Moreover, there are still many other achievements in form of research results, international journals, and works produced by UPH lecturers.

Aside from introducing the works which have been done by the students, during UPH Public Exposure, the Rector of UPH also talked about the education system in UPH. In relation to this topic, UPH has practiced the holistic education system in order to fulfill the three pillars of higher education. The Rector also opened a dialogue session for any visitors who wanted to ask.

Moreover, the rector also explained that the holistic education system in UPH is in line with the direction which has been given by our president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding education system that has to prioritize character building and spirituality. Thus, UPH graduates are able to play an important role within the society with the professionalism that they possessed.

 ?UPH Alumni has become professionals, leaders who could be seen as a role model and not a corruptor. All of UPH alumni have truly given their best. Thus, we have to let more people know,? said the rector. 

Hopefully, through this event, people can get to know UPH better and might as well obtain new insights and creative ideas, through the information given by the experts and academician from UPH for three days, until Sunday, July 30, 2017.
