On Tuesday, May 31, 2016, the Electrical Engineering students of UPH handed a solar powered lamp posts Gawe Rukun, Kunciran, South Tangerang. These lamp posts were built as a Community Service activity. This solar powered lighting system installation was a continuation from previous activities which has been done in other regions such as, Kelompok Sadar Lingkungan Pamulang, South Tangerang and Dutasia Library, Bencongan, Tangerang. This lighting system has been made and designed by the lecturers and staffs of Electrical Engineering UPH. This lighting system was installed around the garden area which functions as the place for waste cultivation as well as an educational media in terms of environment conservation for the people. This activity is a form of support from the Electrical Engineering major of UPH, towards environmental conservation. Aside from that, this action was also done to educate the people in the area on the usage of sun light as electricity and lighting system. The lighting system was designed with LED lamps, and a solar panel which will convert sun light to electricity, store it inside a battery (ACCU) during the day and which will turn the light automatically during the night. Thus, the waste bank would not have to spend more cost for lighting systems? operational. This system is integrated in one pole. The pole is made in 6 meter length, with 5 meter which will go above the ground and the rest 1 meter below the ground, as the foundation for the system. The solar panel was placed in the top of the pole, while the lamp itself was placed 3 meter above the ground and the panel box was placed in 1.5 meter height, to provide easy maintenance. The operational for this lamp post is automated; the lamp will light up when the sun has set and it will light off after the morning. The design and manufacturing process was done in the Electrical Engineering Lab. The installation of the whole system was done on May 23, 2016. Then on May 31, 2016, a handover was done, along with a small workshop on the solar-powered lighting system design by Dr. -Ing. Ihan Martoyo, representative for the Head of Electrical Engineering of UPH, for Gawe Rukun Waste Bank, Kunciran, Tangerang.
