Food Explore 7 ?Cultivate The Nature, Empower The Life? eventually reached its closing date on November 7th, 2014. There were many activities during this event and closed with a splendid closing ceremony at UPH. The head of Food Technology Department, Julia Ratna, the lectures of Food Technology Department as well as UPH students participated in this Closing Ceremony.
On Food Explore?s closing date, the winner of the competition that had held from November, 5th 2014 was announced. The competitions were Food Science Olympiad, Food Inovation Competition, and National Undergraduate Paper Competition.
Food Innovation Competition that held on November 5th ? 6th 2014 with ?The Fruits Development in Functional Food Innovation? as its theme is a competition for senior high school students. This competition goal is to test the students? abilities in processing the fruits such as Bengkoang, Balinese Orange and Jackfruit, to become a innovative food product. It was participated by eight teams that consist of five members in each team.
?This Innovation Competition was participated by several senior high schools such as Pahoa, Dian Harapan Daan Mogot, Harapan Bangsa, UPH College and Regina Pacis. For the assessment criteria, the committee will grade the creativity of participants? booth; the proposal, to know whether the products that will be made is in accordance with the their proposal; as well as from the scent and taste of the product?, said Revina as the Innovation Competition committee.
Dian Harapan Daan Mogot won the innovation competition and got a trophy and IDR 2.250.000. The favorite winner was UPH College with the most votes based on the result of voting on the spot and Instagram, thus they also got IDR 500.000.
The second competition, Food Science Olympiad was a competition for Jabodetabek senior high school students with a goal to test students? knowledge in Mathematic, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and basic knowledge of Food Technology. This competition was arranged in three rounds which were the preliminary round; the second round that consisted of puzzle, wordsearch and scheme; and the third round with quick-right round. Twenty teams participated in this competition and each of the team consists of three members. Two teams from BPK Penabur 5 won the first and second place in this competition and got trophy and IDR 2.500.000 for the first winner and IDR 1.500.000 for the second winner.
On November 7th 2014, the winner for higher education competition, named National Undergraduate Paper Competition was announced. The theme of this competition was ?Enhance the Value of Food for Better Life: The Utilization of Natural Ingredients?.
There were eight teams that participating in this competition, they come from the students of food technology department, biotechnology and chemical engineering. The first winner was achieved by the food technology department students from Universitas Widya Mandala Surabaya. They got IDR 5.000.000. The second winner was from students of food technology UPH and they got IDR 3.000.000. Furthermore, the ?Best Presenter? winner came from Universitas Widya Mandala.
Food Explore 7 was closed by a festive performance from Food Technology Department students with European dance, Fashion Show, Kecak dance and Pendet dance. Moreover, Joshua Kresna and friends were also enliven the closing ceremony with his saxophone show during the fashion show. The dancing from Food Explore committee with a song entitled ?Ingatlah Hari Ini? became the climax of this event. The hardwork has paid off with a successful event.
