Alumni Homecoming Event

On the last day of UPH Festival 20 (24/8), one of the events for that day is ?Alumni Homecoming Event? where alumni of UPH from various cohort and majors gathered.

On the last day of UPH Festival 20 (24/8), one of the events for that day is ?Alumni Homecoming Event? where alumni of UPH from various cohort and majors gathered. The event that took place at HOPE Counseling gathered more than 500 alumni. The event itself was presented in the form of a seminar with the theme ?Reach Higher Using God?s Creation: THE BRAIN? by Prof. Dr. Dr. dr. Eka J. Wahjoepramono, Sp.BS. ? Dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine and with moderator dr. Vito (Faculty of Medicine 2002).

Nathan, UPH Conservatory of Music student, opened the event with his piano playing then the event continued with opening remarks from UPH President ? Raymond Liu. He welcomed the alumni and explained briefly the current news about Yayasan Pelita Harapan (YPH). Next to welcome the alumni was the Alumni Director – Ir. Nursari Dewi Lugito, M.Pd who introduced Alumni Center?s programs. Yonathan Winardi and Frita Haryanto (Communication 2002) became the host for the Alumni Homecoming event.

At the beginning of his seminar, dr. Eka explained several practical surgery numbers that are getting an increase from year to year, and for the current time, the surgery on brain neurons are getting more focus. Therefore, dr. Eka explained in detail about the brain, its evolution and parts, how the brain works, and its relation to a person?s brain ability with the character and emotion. Quoting The Hippocratic Writings, dr. Eka also explained that the brain becomes the source of emerging feelings such as happiness, sadness, anger and even the ability to differentiate between the right and the wrong, fair and unfair, and others. Through this seminar, dr. Eka wanted to encourage the alumni to maximize their brain function that has been given by God to reach an even higher success ? which is in line with UPH Festival 20 theme, ?Reach Higher?

 

Angel Fransiscus ? Alumni Center staff closed the event by presenting the privileges of joining UPH Alumni Membership card. Several of the privileges are to enroll relatives or alumni to UPH or UPH college, to enter and use the Johannes Oentoro and UPH Sport?s facilities, special discount at Books & Beyond Bookstore, Hardrock Hotel Bali & Penang and Concorde Hotel Singapore?s room booking, discount for medical check-up at MRCCC Siloam Semanggi Hospital, and many other privilges. Angel also encouraged the alumni to actively participate at the membership because there will be many interesting programs from Alumni Center such as domestic/international tour, gathering, bazaar and many other events. The event is good, I am impressed with the event committee, and I hope that this kind of event can be held more often so not only once a year in UPH Festival.

The event is interesting because this has never been done before in UPH. I hope that there is a special events in the next Alumni Homecoming besides reunion so that we could add our networking.

I am happy with the Alumni Homecoming because I can meet with friends, lecturers and I can get a lot of new information. I hope in the next event, there will be more programs and more alumni can attend it.
