On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, Hypermart Group, the core business of Matahari Food Business (MFB), a business unit of PT Matahari Putra Prima Tbk (MPPA) signed an agreement to cooperate with Center for Business Law Studies (CLBS), Faculty of Law, Universitas Pelita Harapan in a researh project in Retail Business law. The agreement was signed by Carmelito Regalado as the MFB President and Prof. Bintan Saragih as the Dean of UPH Faculty of Law.

The cooperation was based on the concern and the industry’s concrete action in terms of development of law, especially the retail business law.

The retail business in Indonesia has grown rapidly and penetrated the country for the last decade. MPP for the third quarter of 2012 has opened more than 72 stores all over Indonesia.

However, the development has not been caught ip by the acceleration of the development of business retail law. The government has tried to actively help by giving guarantee and law protection to both the business and the consumers.

In facing the challenge, the real action was the right answer to support the government in reforming providing the adequate law tools as a framework that needed to be obeyed and done by business workers and consumers in retail. (PR)
