Thursday, Auguts 2 2012 becomes a memorable day for UPH civitas academica. Today was the day when UPH Festival 19 ?Ready! Set! Grow!? was opened officialy. UPH Festival is the biggest annual event held in UPH to welcome the new students. Since 2006, UPH has changed its concept to welcome the new students to a festival format, where the new students were welcomed warmly and festively.

President of UPH, Raymond Liu, welcomed all of the new students warmly. He also hoped that the students? journey in UPH could be an important chapter in these students? life. ?The purpose of our life is developing in spirituality and character building. You are prepared to begin a journey in order to give contributions to society. I wish you have a transformational journey,? he said.
Rector UPH, Jonathan L. Parapak, also gave spiritual message themed ?True Knowledge? in this opening ceremony. He invited the students to think about their reason for being in university. ?You might say to study. But then my next question, what kind of knowledge? And what is the knowledge for?? he continued. ?Therefore I invite you to ponder about UPH vision, True Knowledge, Faith in God, and Godly Character. UPH vision wants to see you as a human completely, as an educated person, have faith in God and Godly character,? he added.

Knowledge was the truth, justified, and true believes. ?The truth comes from God and centered on divine truth. Source of the truth is God. To get knowledge, we need to focus on the truth itself, which is God. Therefore, education should be holistic, with God as the foundation,? Jonathan Parapak said. (ft)
