On Friday, November, 18, 2011, the World Bank Indonesia visited UPH in order to socialize World Bank Scholarship Program. The event attended by approximately 30 participants was held in the UPH MYC, from 1 pm until 3 pm. In this event, information specialist from the World Bank, Endang W. Sonda, explained about the available scholarship programs.
According to Endang, “actually there are a lot of scholarship programs from World Bank, but Indonesians have not recognized this. With today?s event, I hope the information about scholarships from the World Bank can be spread widely and it will attract many applicants because it is very rewarding.”
The World Bank Scholarship Program?s mission is to reduce poverty and improve living standards through sustainable development and investment in people. There are two types of scholarship, which are The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program sponsored by the Government of Japan and The Roberts S. McNamara Fellowship Program.
These scholarships are available for the Graduate Program (master and doctoral) in the development field. Common fields of study are economics, public policy, sustainable development (including natural resources and environmental management), agriculture and rural development, urban and regional planning, infrastructure, health, population and education. The program is organized in cooperation with 41 universities around the world.
The scholarship program is awarded to mid career professionals who have worked with at least 3-year experience. The participants must come from a developing country, not older than 45 years old, willing to return to their home countries and apply their knowledge they have learned to develop the society and country of origin, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on the scale of 4.0, and meet other specific requirements.
