People can express their emotions, ideas, thoughts, and struggle through various means, wither it is positive or negative. Wisnu Sasongko, one of Indonesian artists, chose painting as a medium to express his emotions and ideas. He poured the observation of social environment on canvas and paper.
“Through fine arts, I researched on the issue of social environment anthropologically, sociologically, politically, ideologically, and aesthetically,” said Wisnu. In a painting exhibition held at Pelita Gallery, Building B Lobby, UPH Karawaci. From this exhibition, Wisnu wished to get appreciation from academic world.
There are 38 paintings displayed in the exhibition entitled ?Rindu pada Kesahajaan? (Longing for Simplicity). Donny Ibrahim, one of the UPH Faculty of Design & Planning lecturers, hoped that the students could enrich their knowledge and they would be able to appreciate art as a science.
This exhibition will be held until October, 29 2011 and is open for public. After this, there will be more painting exhibitions held regularly until the end of 2011. The exhibition can be used as a medium for students to learn about design, especially visual art.(bs)
