Swedish Ambassador Gave Lecture about Innovation at UPH

UPH invited Ambassador of Sweden, Ewa Polano, to deliver lecture about innovation and creativity, to students, principals, teachers and students from several high schools in Jakarta.

UPH invited Ambassador of Sweden, Ewa Polano, to deliver lecture about innovation and creativity, to students, principals, teachers and students from several high schools in Jakarta. The lecture session entitled “Innovation Through Creativity in Education” aimed to open horizons and motivate the students and educators to innovate through creativity in various fields.

At the beginning of her speech, Ewa Polano mentioned some innovations from Sweden such as mobile phones, ATM machine, seatbelt, computer mouse, and skype. “Over the past three years, the Swedish are included in the most innovative countries in the world,” she said.

Ewa Polano explained about the various innovations produced by Swedish and the government’s policy that encourage creativity in the educational institutions. Education in Sweden applies a creative thinking model at all levels of education. One of the Swedish government program is to encourage innovation, either through research conducted at universities or industrial environments.

This activity is associated with the plan between UPH and Berita Satu Media Holding to organize a packaging design competition in October at UPH. The competition is for high school and university students.

The lecture was attended by UPH students, teachers and principals from various high schools in Jabodetabek. This event was held in MYC, UPH, on Friday, September 23,2011 at 2 to 4 p.m.

After delivering the lecture, the Ambassador of Sweden rewarded some schools who are members of Floorball Association. Floorball is the sport that was originated from Sweden. The ambassador also visited Times Book Store located at UPH campus.
