UPH Hosted International Rugby Competition

UPH hosted the ?Rugby Competition-2011 HSBC Asian 5 Nations Division 3 Tournament. This year, the matches held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 and Saturday, June 25, 2011.

For the second time, UPH hosted the ?Rugby Competition-2011 HSBC Asian 5 Nations Division 3 Tournament. This year, the matches held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 and Saturday, June 25, 2011 at UPH Soccer Field, Karawaci. Four countries participating in the competition are Indonesia, Guam, China, and Pakistan.

Rugby teams from China took the first place in this year?s annual international rugby competition by defeating the team from Indonesia on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 with score 32-23, and won over Guam on the finals on Saturday, June 25, 2011. On the third place there was team from Indonesia and on the fourth there was Pakistan.

Vice General Secretary of  Indonesian Olympic Committee (Komite Olimpiade Indonesia-KOI) Hifni Hasan, SH, and General Secretary I of Indonesian National Sports Committee (Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia-KONI) Banten Drs. H. Sutaryono, M.Si attended the event to support the competing teams. Head of the Banten Province Youth and Sports Department Ir. H. Ubaidillah, AS and President of Indonesian Union Rugby Unity (Persatuan Rugby Union Indonesia-PRUI) Pieter Wattimena also came to the competition.

“This game was great and I am glad to be able to see it, especially because it is held on a field with international standard. KOI strongly supports the games, “said Hifni from KOI.
In this game there was also Andrew White, Indonesian actor,  who has joined the Indonesia Rugby Team for two years. “I am happy to be able to join the game. Although we didn?t win, Indonesian team has given the best effort. Also, I?d like to say thank you for UPH for being the host and facilitating this match,? said Andrew. (pty)
