As a realization of cooperation between UPH and partner universities from abroad, during this short semester of May ? July 2010, several faculties invite guest lecturers for international classes. Among them are: Prof. William Belski from Samford University, USA, teaching at UPH Business School; Prof. Michael Lessard-Clouston from Biola University, USA,  teaching at UPH Faculty of Liberal Arts; dan Jamie J. Williams, graduated from Vermont Law School, USA, teaching at UPH School of Law.

Michael teaches Academic Writing, i.e. the ability to write paragraphs and essay in English. The goal is for students mastering good communication in written English, especially in paragraphs and short essays. In terms of students’ responses in his class, he thinks that UPH students are active enough, but sometimes need more encouragement to be more active. ?One way that needs to be done in order for students be active in class, is making the online program which is combined with the program being taught in class. This way, students can learn before and after attending the class,? suggested Michael.

Jamie is teaching International Trade. In general, she is teaching the general concept of banking law which is applicable internationally. ?Case studies are mostly from America, because America has a general standard in banking law. Several case studies are also from Indonesia,? explained Jammie. She added that principally, bank is all about trust and risk assessment. Through this lecture students are expected to have good understanding of banking and general regulations that are applicable internationally, as well as how different countries applying those concepts. Hence, students would be able to give recommendations in banking, which are in accordance to different policies in different countries.

Jamie added that her class is very interesting. ?This is a very small class. We can know each other. Some of them belong to mood court community. They are really beyond the undergraduate level. Basically, they?re really doing hard work.? Jamie also said, ?The teaching infrastructure provided by UPH is sufficient enough for class activities.?

At Business School, Prof. William is teaching 2 subjects: Cost Accounting and Managerial Accounting. Each subject is offered to 4th semester students.

In terms of communication, generally students do not have difficulties. Besides getting a direct experience of being taught by foreign lecturers from overseas universities, students are also able to enrich their global view. (ros)
