A Public Lecture by German Ambassador, HE Dr. Norbert Baas

German Ambassador to Indonesia, Dr. Norbert Baas, gave a public lecture at UPH campus (8/6), attended by 200 lecturers and students. In the presentation, he stated the cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in the fields of economy, education, culture, knowledge, and technology. In general, German Ambassador said that there are still possibilities for cooperation in the Southeast Asia region. Indonesia itself, according to Dr. Baas, is still very open for cooperation.
In the economy sector, Indonesia has experienced a very impressive development, and it attracted investors to come. The same thing goes for technology; Indonesian education that is based on technology and science is already good enough. In the future, there are possibilities of Germany ? Indonesia cooperation, as long as all aspects are combined.
In the education sector, Germany opens opportunities for Indonesian students. According to him, this cooperation can help enhancing institutional relations and networking. Dr. Baas admitted that there are several universities in Indonesia that have good quality. Hence, there are also possibilities of partnering with some German companies in terms of internship. The synergy among industry, university, and government can also be applied in Indonesia, just like what has been done in European countries, especially in the field of research and technology. (ros)
