Lippo Village (18/03) – You want to succeed in IT business? Andrew Darwis, founder and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Kaskus (Indonesian largest internet community) has the answer! He described it in a talk show titled “Success in IT Business, Can You?” at UPH building D502. Accompanied by Adrian L. L., a System Developer of Globe Media, the talk show was attended by 90 participants who were enthusiastic about IT business world.

“If you want to develop IT business in Indonesia, first of all, you shouldn?t make a forum which requires users to pay. This is to attract as many people to join your forum,” said Andrew as he opened the conversation. When you already have a lot of people joining the forum, you can be sure your business will grow; at least that?s what happened to Kaskus.

In addition, Adrian added, another important point to consider is the easy access for users. “For example, don?t use slow servers; people will be reluctant to even enter the forum,” added UPH Alumni of Information System class of 2004.

At the moment Andrew is also developing its business in Kaskus. He wants to integrate Kaskus with leading banks in Indonesia to make online transactions. “Around July Kaskus will be integrated with the banks. So the model will be much like ebay, but especially for Indonesians only,” he said.

This talk show was one of the events in a FALCON (Faculty of Computer Science) Project 2010 series held since March 15. This FALCON Project is the first time being held ever, as a result of cooperation between the three departments, namely Computer Science, Information Systems and Computer Engineering. (cyn)
