STAY AWAY Campaign ? an invitation for young people to avoid things that may damage themselves and their future, such as smoking, drugs, free sex, and HIV-AIDS-today (18/1) was officially launched by Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare, Dr. H.R. Agung Laksono, at UPH campus.
UPH Rector, Jonathan Parapak, said that since it was established, UPH has been consistently applying the non-smoking environment on campus. The purpose is to create a healthy and comfortable environment for every person in UPH campus. Being strict with the commitment, any students violating the rules will be strongly warned, or even dismissed from UPH as the maximum penalty.
Attending the event, Inspector. Pol Bambang Abimanyu, Secretary of National Narcotics Board ? Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN), Nita Yudhi MBA., Chairman of the Indonesian Women Against Tobacco ? Wanita Indonesia Tanpa Tembakau (WITT), Veronica Colondam, CEO of Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB), Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir MA., Ph.D, Chairman of the Indonesian Floorball Association (IFA)
On this occasion, Floorball as a new sports from Sweden was introduced. Floorball which is played by 6 players, would be one of the highlights in the Stay AWAY campaigns. Some other programs, such as a talk on dangers of smoking and its impacts, was presented by YCAB for high school students. “Socialization of Stay AWAY campaigns has been conducted since May 2009. “Until now, Stay AWAY seminar has been conducted in 12 schools and will continue to be done in other schools in greater Jakarta area,” said Lorens, UPH?s Marketing Manager. “We also conducted training for trainers done by a team from the Department of Health and YCAB, followed by Counseling Teachers from 20 high schools. The goal is to explain the dangers of cigarettes, drugs, liquor and free sex, as well as directing students to more positive activities, “she added.
This campaign is also conducted on UPH campus, including collecting 1000 signatures to support the Stay AWAY campaign. The other program is creating Stay AWAY ambassadors from various high school students? representatives. These students will be included in various Stay AWAY programs, so that they could make a kind of persuasive move to their friends.
