The U.S. Ambassador for Indonesia Cameron Hume believes that two countries can cooperate by promoting democracy, tolerance, and peace throughout Southeast Asia and beyond.
He made the remark when addressing a seminar discussing the first 100 days of Obama?s Presidency entitled ?Is There Any Change?? at UPH on Wednesday (29/04).
The Ambassador said that two countries need to enhance cooperation in the fields of education, security, science and technology, human rights, environmental reservations, trade and commerce, and so forth.
The Ambassador explained that during the era of President Barack Obama, the United States will encourage more American students to pursue education in Indonesia.
So far America has been one of the most favorite destinations of Indonesian students as proven by the fact that there are approximately 22,000 Indonesian students studying in American universities.
The Ambassador also indicated that the U.S government will encourage more institutional cooperation between universities of both countries.
