Hospitality Management at UPH

Under the Faculty of Tourism, UPH’s Hospitality Management (HM) programme delivers education through a blended learning approach that is student-oriented, project-based, and result-focused, aimed at producing professionals in the hospitality field. UPH’s HM programme also supports students’ aspirations in entrepreneurship and industry leadership by encouraging innovation and a passion for delivering excellent hospitality services. Students will be equipped with various skills, including analytical thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, leadership, IT and hospitality management tools, and networking.

UPH’s HM programme offers concentration tracks that allow students to study and practise hospitality in a deeper and more specialised way, including:

Industry Collaboration and International Education Partnerships

UPH has established collaborations with industry players and educational institutions across several cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Bintan, Lampung, Yogyakarta, and Bali. These partnerships also extend internationally to Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates. Some of UPH Hospitality Management’s notable partners include prestigious institutions such as Fairmont, Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, Four Seasons, Westin, Kempinski, Pullman, Raffles Hotel, Mandarin Oriental, Culinary Arts Academy, and the School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, among many others.

Development Platform through Hospitour & Hospitour Entrepreneur Club

UPH provides a platform for Hospitality Management students to develop their skills through Hospitour and the Hospitour Entrepreneur Club. Through Hospitour, students have the opportunity to compete, collaborate, and participate in various activities such as seminars, tourism and hospitality competitions (culinary, pastry, F&B, and more), exhibitions, community service, job fairs, and other events. Meanwhile, the Hospitour Entrepreneur Club serves as a platform for students to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills, encouraging independence, creativity, innovation, and developing a strong entrepreneurial mindset to start their own business.

Learning at UPH Hospitality Management

UPH’s Hospitality Management programme offers a comprehensive curriculum covering Global Trends, Business Strategy, Operational Leadership & Teamwork, and Fundamental Managerial Skills. Students will learn essential aspects of hospitality management, such as:

  • Serving food professionally

  • Managing hotel finances

  • Providing room services for hotel guests

  • Planning hotel facility development

  • Starting a business in the hospitality industry

  • Preparing food, beverages, and pastries

In the sixth semester, students have the opportunity to take part in a mandatory internship programme. This internship allows students to gain real-world experience by working with UPH’s national and international hospitality industry partners.
